Novel Synthetic Protocol of InP Quantum Dots using Triphenyl Phsophite |

Colloidal InP quantum dots (QDs) have been attracted a huge interest as a potential alternative to CdSe-based NCs, because of their non-toxicity and tunable emission bandwidth over all visible range. One crucial issse on designing colloidal InP QDs stems from the lack of good phosphorus precursors due to intrinsic drawbacks on their cost, safety, or reactivity. As alternative to pyrophoric tris(trimethylsilyl) phosphine (TMS3P), we introduce the synthesis of InP QDs using triphenyl phosphite. Addition of ZnCl2 enables size control of InP QDs with absorption maxima within all visible range. Adapting ZnS shell cause photoluminescence with some extent of trap emission, showing maximum total quamtum yield (QY) of 23% (8% of band-edge emission QY). We have used NMR, DOSY, and mass spectroscopy to assign intermediates and following mechanisms of the InP synthesis.
