Electrical actuation performance induced by nano-phase morphology of dielectric elastomer films |

We have investigated the electrical actuation performance of poly(methyl methacrylate)-poly(n-butyl acrylate)-poly(methyl methacrylate) triblock copolymer films induced by nano-phase morphology. Various solvents were used as casting solvents to obtain the phase inversion structure either of PnBA or PMMA due to their different affinities to polymers. Both sides of dielectric elastomer films were deposited with compliant electrodes and their actuation performance on applied DC voltages were carried out with circular actuators. The dielectric elastomer actuators with continuous phases of PnBA showed a high dielectric constant and have a great actuation performance under electric fields than those of actuators consists of PMMA continuous phases. |
