제목 Enhanced Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Graphene-Epoxy Composites by Using Non-Oxidized Graphene Flakes with Edge-Functionalization
초록 With the increasing demand of heat dissipating polymer for industrial applications, polymeric composites with highly thermal conducting filler have gained much attention. Graphene is one of the most notable candidates for filler due to its high aspect ratio, excellent mechanical and thermal properties. Here we demonstrate incorporation of non-oxidized graphene flakes (NOGFs) into epoxy composite for enhancement of thermal and mechanical properties. Highly crystalline NOGFs with low oxygen content (6.25%) and size raging up to 3㎛are exfoliated from graphite intercalation compound, which is fabricated by thermally intercalating potassium sodium tartrate into raw graphite. Moreover, the NOGFs are edge-functionalized by tartrate, ensuring homogeneous dispersion of the NOGFs in epoxy matrix. The resulting graphene-epoxy composite showed 10.89% increase in young’s modulus and 70% enhancement in thermal conductivity in 0.2wt% and 4wt% filler content respectively compared to pure epoxy.
