The surface chemistry, physics, and topography of biomaterials are important parameters that influence the properties of materials. Specifically, polymer brushes are the attractive means to control surface properties of biomaterials. In this study, polymer brushes consisting of PEGMA-co-PFPMA were prepared via SI-ATRP technique as 'grafting from' method that could be high density brushes. For preparation of brushes, SI-ATRP was carrid out after immobilization of bromine-containing material that acted as the initiating moiety of ATRP. The monomer components of brushes are poly(ethylene glycol)methacrylate and 4-formylphenyl methacrylate. It has been generally known that the modification of surface with PEG effectively eliminates protein adsorption. Furthermore, another monomer FPMA including aldehyde group can bond with a variety of bio-substances such as protein and DNA. Thus, surfaces coated PEGMA-co-PFPMA will be discussed for various bio-application fields in this presentation. |
