Fabrication and properties of composite particles of carbon nanotube/amine-epoxy adducts by dry particle coating process |

Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have been widely studied due to their outstanding properties and potential applications in many areas. Especially, the application of CNTs to composite materials as reinforcing fillers has been attempted due to their superior mechanical properties combined with low density and very high aspect ratio. In this study we prepared composite particles consisting of CNT and amine-epoxy adducts (AEA) using mechano-chemical bonding process, which is considered as one of commercially viable techniques to fabricate core-shell type functional particles due to their green nature as well as simple procedure. Cure behavior and thermal properties of CNT-epoxy composites wherein CNT/AEA composite particles were used as curing agents were investigated. Incorporation of small amount of CNTs into the epoxy resin through curing agents combined with CNTs was found to be one of effective ways to achieve the enhanced thermal properties of epoxy resins. |
