White Color Rendering of High Power LED Based on Red Quantum Dot and Green Phosphor |

We present a new type of quantum dot (QD)-phosphor-converted white light-emitting diode (WLED) achieved by combining the red light emission from CdSe/CdS/ZnS core-multishell QDs, the green emission from Sr2SiO4:Eu phosphor, and the blue emission of a InGaN LED chip used as the excitation source. The optical properties of the phosphor-QD polymer blends and the emission properties of the resulting WLED device were characterized in terms of temperature increase, photoluminescence, color rendering index, and color temperature. We observed that a 0.2 wt% QD content resulted in a high-power WLED chip with a high color rendering index of 83.2, a luminance of 65.86 lmW-1, and small temperature increase. We also determined that the color temperature of the WLED could be changed to a rate of about 4000 K/wt% for a QD weight ratio of about 1 wt%. QD-phosphor-converted WLEDs have great potential in future illumination applications. |
