제목 Enzyme-Mediated Oxidative Stress Enhancing Mineralized Nanoparticles.
초록 Some of reactive oxygen species (ROS) are highly toxic and act as key therapeutic molecules for cancer treatment. It is known that cancer cells are more vulnerable than normal cells to the oxidative stress. Thus, there have been many attempts to modulate the ROS level to kill the cancer cells. In particular, the Fenton reaction that amplifies the oxidative stress by generating hydroxyl radicals has been recognized as one of the powerful routes for effective cancer therapy. The purpose of this work is to develop a superoxide dismutase (SOD)-loaded mineralized nanoparticle that can intracellularly enhance the level of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and can trigger the subsequent conversion of H2O2 into highly toxic apoptosis-inducing hydroxyl radicals. This mineralized nanoparticle that enables enzyme-mediated oxidative stress amplification may find broad applications in treatment of various cancers.
