제목 | Effect of Titanium Precursors on the Luminescent Properties of Mg2TiO4:Mn4+ phosphor |
초록 | The white light emitting diodes (WLEDs) have been attracted many attentions due to the superior advantages such as long lifetime, compactness, environment friendliness, good material stability and designable features, and regarded as the next generation light soucre. At present, there are several ways proposed to generate white light. The most popular approach is combining GaN-based blue LED chip with the YAG:Ce yellow phosphor, which has a drawback of low color rendering indexes due to a deficiency in red components. In this respect, searching for an effective red phosphor is essential for the development of wLEDs. In this study, magnesium titanates (Mg2TiO4:Mn4+) red phosphors were successively synthesized by solid-state method. In the synthesis, the titanium precursors were varied and the luminescent properties of resultant phosphors were investigated. The titanium precursors were prepared from TiCl4 solution by sol-gel method, which has benefits in controlling the reaction process. The gelatinizing mechanism of TiCl4 in solution can be described as followings. When TiCl4 was mixed with D.I. water, it reacts with water to form Ti(OH)4 precursor and HCl gas. At this time, the titanium precursors such as Ti(OH)4, TiO(OH)2 was prepared by adjusting the pH and temperature. The crystalline structures of the obtained titanium precursors were amorphous, and their morphology and particle size were measured. The luminescent properties of Mg2TiO4:Mn4+ red phosphors according to the diverse titanium precursors were investigated. |
