Preparation of Heat Insulating Microcapsules with Various Range of Latent Heat |

There are many approaches to heat insulating materials which are studied for textile fabrics as thermal insulators and heat insulating microencapsulation. However, simple Phase change material(PCM) microcapsules have limited environments that can be used depending on the latent heat range of the core. In this research, we develop microcapsules with multi-latent heat ranges that can be used in a variety of environments. In order to fabricate microcapsules with various latent heat ranges, we used two or more liquid PCMs with different latent heat ranges as the core and chemisorbed inorganic nanoparticles with heat insulating properties onto the surface of microcapsules. Even if, conventional microcapsules have a heat insulating property in a single latent heat range and spherical shape, our microcapsules can be used in various environments and have further enhanced the thermal insulating properties by expanding the specific surface area receiving heat through inorganic nanoparticles. |
