For CO2 sorption and separation, we have developed synthesis methods of novel nanoporous materials such as flexible metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and amine-functionalized MOFs. In this talk, we will present synthetic strategies that exploit a flexible MOF (flexMOF) constructed with Ni(II) macrocyclic complexes possessing flexible pendant arms and a tetracarboxylate ligand. flexMOF showed ensemble of gate-opening and breathing phenomena upon CO2 gas sorption and its structural dynamics were examined via single crystal X-ray and in-situ XRD analysis. In addition, a covalently alkylamine-tethered MOF (MOFNH2) was successfully prepared via one-step synthesis. MOFNH2 showed the chemical interaction with CO2 molecules, and importantly, the chemisorbed CO2 molecules in MOFNH2 were regenerated under mild temperature (100 oC). |
