Natural killer (NK) cells signify valuable candidates for cancer immunotherapy due to their physiological character eliminating the physiologically stressed cells. However, the numerous strategies for reinforcing NK cells have come up against some limitations. Here, we developed a simple method that helps to increase the killing capacity of NK cells and sensitize tumor cells to an NK cell-mediated attack using cationic modified magnetic nanoparticles (cMNPs) coated. When the cMNPs were treated to NK cells (cMNP-NKs), their cytotoxic activity against triple-negative breast cancer cells was superior. Especially, the cMNP-NKs with the enhanced tumor cell recognition ability effectively inhibited tumor growth. Moreover, optical and magnetic resonance imaging could be utilized for in vivo tracking of the NK cells activated by cMNPs. Therefore, the cMNPs could be a promising platform for adoptive cancer immunotherapy. |
