Acute liver failure (ALF) requiring liver transplantation is a disease that occurs due to rapid hepatocellular dysfunction. To effectively treat ALF, it is important to effectively deliver active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) to damaged tissue. In recent years, diverse research has been conducted to more effectively deliver APIs to specific tissues and cells through an advanced drug delivery system based on biomaterials. However, the approaches used in the previous studies had the following limitations: difficult to repeatedly deliver the API through refilling and difficult to properly design the shape of the delivery device to fit the damaged tissues. In this study, we developed a 3D-printed drug delivery system to solve the existing problems. The system has been verified for studying the therapeutic potential of ALF treatment and confirmed the usability for the delivery of various active pharmaceutical ingredients Through several kinds of analysis of in vivo experiments. |
