Liquid Uptake and Methanol Transport Behaviour of PVdF/SPEEK/TiO2 Hybrid Membrane for DMFC |

Sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) and poly(vinylidiene difluoride) have been presented as promising materials due to their low liquid uptake. In the present work, nano TiO2 dispersed poly(vinylidiene difluoride)/Sulfonated poly(ether ether Ketone) hybrid membranes were prepared to evaluate the possibility of use as a proton exchange membrane for direct methanol fuel cell. PVdF and SPEEK was use to decrease liquid uptake, and simultaneously to prevent methanol transport through the cross linked membrane. In addition TiO2 nano particles were dispersed into polymer matrices, expecting the barrier to the methanol transport. The proton and methanol transport were investigated in terms of PVdF/SPEEK compositions and effect of the addition of nano sized TiO2 into PVdF/SPEEK blend were also investigated. |
