In capsule based self-healing system, epoxy-amine reaction is commonly used. However, this system has a problem that it is difficult for the capsules containing epoxy and amine to meet each other. Therefore, the epoxy single system is applied here for self-healing. Using ring-opening reaction of epoxy groups would allow self-healing with an epoxy single system. A core agent comprising an epoxide functional group is synthesized and characterized. The crosslinking process via ring opening reaction between epoxide groups was investigated by DSC. Additionally, to control the hydrophilicity of core agent is conducted to optimize encapsulation. |
