제목 Impact of organic fouling layer on micropollutants rejection by FO membrane  
초록 To elucidate the transport of micropollutant (MPs) in forward osmosis (FO) processes according to their solute properties were investigated in the absence and presence of organic fouling layer on FO membrane surfaces. Generally, the rejection of neutral MPs was strongly correlated with the molecular weight of MPs in all conditions, but the hydrophobicity became the dominant factor when FO membrane surface was fouled with natural organic matter due to the concentrated adsorption of hydrophobic MPs into the fouling layer. The negatively charged MPs exhibited the highest rejection efficiency and lowest adsorption to the virgin and organic fouled FO membrane due to the electrostatic repulsion. Positively charged MPs exhibited the highest adsorption in organic fouled FO membrane, but lower rejection than the virgin FO membrane.
