Allyl isothiocyanate encapsulated halloysite covered with polyacrylate for potential antibacterial effect against food spoilage bacteria |
초록 |
Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) is a high volatile organic compound and is globally used as a potential antibacterial agent against food spoilage bacteria. Naturally formed halloysite (HNT) has 1 μm length and diameter of 10-50 nm, which can effectively encapsulate AITC oil due to porous structure. We encapsulated the antimicrobial agent AITC in HNT, which in turn coated with the polymer of polyacrylate (PA). The HNT-AITC-PA nanocomposites (NCs) was characterized by FTIR, TGA, XRD, SEM, TEM, and DVS analysis. The antibacterial effects of HNT-AITC-PA NCs were evaluated on Gram positive (S. aureus) and Gram negative (E. coli) food spoilage bacteria. The effect of HNT-AITC-PA NCs might be due to the ROS accumulation of bacterial cell surface to break the cell wall and reduce the growth of food spoilage bacterial strains. It can also be addressed to evaluate the influence of encapsulated AITC in food shelf life. |
