A three-dimensional Monte Carlo model is utilized to study the densification behavior of the two-phase system where spherical particles are placed at the regular points (simple cubic, body centered cubic, face centered cubic) and embedded by the free space. In the model, both the mass transportation between the solid and vapor phases, and the grain growth occur. The changes in the density and structures of the solid phase are characterized during simulation. The results on the densification of solids and the morphological changes in the vapor phase are given in this presentation. The energy anisotropy of grain boundaries, the simulation temperature and the particle positions are found to have much influence on the densification kinetics. It is found that the body of results gives us all of the fundamental aspects of initial stage to final stage of sintering. |
