Composite films of zinc calcium alginate were prepared by film maker to 7 weight% sodium alginate solution and then they solidified into 3, 5 weight% content ZnCl2, CaCl2 solution washed and dried at room temperature. The characteristics were measured with several methods (water solubility, swelling ratio, antimicrobial activity and viscosity, SEM, EDS) and the film properties were investigated. The water solubility decreased with increasing the concentration of CaCl2 by zinc alginate films in the weight ratio and 3 weight% zinc alginate film with soaking 5 weight% CaCl2 was the lowest in water solubility. The swelling ratio of zinc alginate increased along with time. The swelling ratio of zinc alginate films with soaking CaCl2 solution were decreased with increasing the concentration of CaCl2 and it is regularly showed by passing time. |
