Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAm) hydrogel which has LCST (lower critical solution temperature) is widely studied as a thermo-sensitive material. In this study, novel thermo-sensitive polymer composites consisting PNIPAm hydrogel and porous polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film were fabricated, which might combine the extremely different properties of hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers. First, a porous PDMS film was prepared through directional melting crystallization (DMC) of dimethylsiloxane-benzene solution and subsequent photo cross-linking. Then, NIPAAm monomers dissolved in dioxane were filled in the pores of PDMS film, and thermal cross-linking was followed to create a new structured composites. It could be confirmed that the polymer composites have a thermo-sensitive characteristic: The contact angle of the composite surface depends on temperature. This study suggests that the polymer composites can be used for future cell sheet or responsive material applications. |
