제목 Topical Neuropeptide Delivery Using Bio-adhesive for Treatment of Atopic Dermatitis
초록 Atopic dermatitis is a hypersensitive reaction mainly caused by dysfunction of immune system though the exact cause is still unknown. As there is no cure, researches have been focused on developing novel compounds to alleviate symptoms of the disease. However, low delivery efficiency of drugs through skin barriers has been another limitation that needs to be overcome for effective treatment of atopic dermatitis. In this study, a plant-derived polyphenol mixed with poly(ethylene) glycol was used to form adhesive for topical delivery of neuropeptide to treat atopic dermatitis. Incorporation of neuropeptides in the bio-adhesive greatly reduced thickness of the epidermis of mouse with atopy. This study may provide a novel approach for the treatment of atopic dermatitis using neuropeptide with a natural compound-based bio-adhesive.
