제목 Crystallization Behavior of Poly(L-lactic Acid)-Poly(dimethylsiloxane) Copolymers
초록 Crystallinity of poly(l-lactic acid) [PLA]and its copolymer is known to be affected by its composition or sample processing methods like thermal treatment or drawing. Though various methods of evaluating its crystallinity have been reported by many researchers, we have focussed our attention on using factor analysis of the FTIR absorbance spectra to study the changes in crystalline behavior of PLA samples as a function of thermal treatment conditions. In the present study, neat PLA and PLA-PDMS copolymer(1, 3 and 5 wt.-% PDMS w.r.t. PLA content) solution-cast samples were annealed at different temperatures, and their crystalline-phase content was determined quantitatively as a function of annealing temperature. The changes in crystallinity upon the inclusion of PDMS segments (Tg = -127 oC) acting as a plasticizer or spacer in the otherwise rigid and high modulus PLA segments (Tg = 90 oC) is studied in detail.
