The deposition of noble metals on titanium dioxide is advantageous to improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 because the deposited metal can act as a reservoir of photo-generated electrons that can enhance the interfacial charge-transfer process.In this report, we present the results for the deposition of nano-sized Ag on the TiO2 nanoparticles (TiO2@Ag) by the sonochemical reduction method that was optimized in terms of relative contributions of metal ions, amounts of ammonia, reaction time, and intensity of sonic wave.TiO2@Ag was further encapsulated by titanium oxide shell to reduce the oxidation of the deposited Ag in the ambient condition. |
