Dry reforming of methane (DRM) can converts greenhouse gases (CO2 and CH4), and also produces industrial feedstock syngas. However, due to high reaction temperature, coking and sintering cause deactivation of catalysts. Previous studies on the DRM reported high Ni dispersion makes metal-support interaction better, so it can restrain undesired side reactions. In this study, we synthesize different size of SiO2 support which appear different surface area to vary Ni dispersion. The silica spheres were obtained by facile stober method in different synthetic conditions. As a result, we confirmed that the greater surface area support facilitates the higher Ni dispersion. We also conducted the dry reforming of methane reaction using our Ni/SiO2 catalysts and obtained better catalyst activity by using the catalyst which has a higher Ni dispersion. Finally, we proved this simple way to obtain high Ni dispersion can get better catalyst performance for DRM. |
