Improvement of electron transfer from the enzyme to the electrode has been a major issue for the practical application of the biofuel cells. In this study, a glucose sensor/biofuel cell based on carbon nanotube fibres was fabricated and characterized. Tetrathiafulvalene and tetracyanoquinodimethane was used as a mediator in the enzymatic electrodes. After immobilization of glucose oxidase, a nafion membrane was coated onto the GOx layers to prevent the leakage of GOx. Similarly, bilirubin oxidase based cathode was prepared by applying BOD instead of the GOx. The electrochemical properties of the electrodes were analyzed by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry, and the surface morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. |
