제목 Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells with Quasi-Solid-State Electrolytes Using Liquid Crystals
초록 Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) got much attention from researchers, after reporting the first DSSC in 1991 by Grätzel group. However, it has been known the presence of organic liquid electrolytes in such cells has some disadvantages such as a less long-term stability and a need for hermetic sealing. In this paper, we show the photovoltaic performances of DSSC device were remarkably improved to 3.5 % overall power conversion efficiency under AM 1.5 illumination when E7, a liquid crystal, was introduced into the quasi-solid-state electrolyte. This is demonstrated that the role of the electrolyte containing the liquid crystals has the opening of the electron pathway by the molecular orientation as well as the electron transfer by the redox reaction.
