Non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs) in the photoactive layer of organic solar cells have attracted considerable interest due to highly tunable properties. Tuning the alkyl side-chain in such NFAs can influence solubility, molecular orientation, and nanoscale morphology in blend. In this work, the oligothiophene-based A-D-A-type NFAs with various side-chains were synthesized by Knoevenagel condensation and thermal, optical, and electrochemical properties were measured. Devices were fabricated with proper donor having complementary UV-Vis absorption spectrum and balanced energy level with acceptor. The influence of the side chain was observed and the device performance was investigated accordingly. |
