Polymeric materials have been used in variety of applications, such as elastomers, plastics, fibers and processing polymers. However they are easily susceptible to physical or chemical induced damages. The damages lead microcrack formation and propagation, which reduce significant mechanical performance and other properties required from its application area. For that reason, much attention to microcrack healing has been increasing in the area of polymer industry. In this work cinnamate-containing siloxanes was synthesized as healing agents. Microcapsules containing the siloxanes have been prepared and used in a photochemical self-healing system. The capability of the self-healing system was evaluated. |
