PVC has been widely used in the sheath material for cable. It has good flame retardancy due to it's high chlorine content but relatively emits large amount of smoke. To achieve both high performance of plenum rated foame retardancy and smoke suppression, a synergistic interaction of the various flame retardants and smoke suppressants has to be introduced. In this study, flame retardant PVC compound for plenum rated telecommunication cable was considered, and the effects of ingredients on the flame retardancy and smoke emission properties were investigated. |
