The chemical conversion coating is used to improve the corrosion resistance of the magnesium alloy, but chemical conversion coating has limited performance due to cracks and pores in the coating layer. Therefore, In this study, the sol-gel coating was applied on the magnesium alloy surface to improve the corrosion resistance. The sol-gel was prepared by using methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMS), 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and aluminum acetyl acetonate. The corrosion characteristic was analyzed by Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and Thermal shock test (TST). The EIS and TST results indicate that the corrosion resistance of sol-gel coated magnesium alloy is significantly improved. |
