Here we have synthesized complex 5-(bis (4-amino-3, 5-dimethylphenyl) (3, 4, 5-trihydroxyphenyl) methyl) benzene-1, 2, 3-triol (DMHT) consisted of conjugate hydroxyl and amide groups, which facilitate the formation of fascinating self-assembling architecture through intermolecular π-π stacking and hydrogen bonds interaction. We discover the spontaneous formation of nanoscale hollow spheres with highly stable structure and relatively narrow size distribution. This discovery prompts us to develop a direct method for the fabrication of low-molecular mass nanocapsules in template free. Folic acid (FA) and rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) were successfully grafted onto DMHT hollow spheres via amide and hydroxyl reaction. The FA and Rh6G conjugated DMHT hollow spheres (FA-Rh6G-DMHT) could be targeted specifically taken up by CT26 cells via FA receptor-mediated endocytosis. Doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX), an anticancer drug, was introduced into FA-Rh6G-DMHT hollow spheres. |
