Carbon nanotubes (CNT) exhibit extraordinary mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties due to their unique one-dimensional all-carbon structure. In this study, polypyrrole, polythiophene, poly(3-thiopheneacetic acid), and polyaniline with hydrophilic property was coated on the surface of MWNT, respectively, by in-situ polymerization. Subsequently, Pt-Ru alloy nanoparticles were deposited on the polypyrrole, polythiophene, poly(3-thiopheneacetic acid), and polyaniline-coated MWNT by chemical reduction assisted with microwave and ultrasonic irradiation, respectively. The catalytic efficiency of Pt-Ru@polymer/MWNT catalysts was determined to MeOH oxidation and CO adsorption ability. The catalytic efficiency of Pt-Ru@PPy/MWNT catalyst prepared by chemical reduction assisted with ultrasonic irradiation for MeOH oxidation is higher than that of the other catalysts. |
