In this study, we assembled two kinds of substances, PS-b-PAA amphiphilic block copolymer micelle and graphene oxide (GO). Block copolymer micelle (BCM), nano-sized drug vehicle, can easily load the drugs in the core and graphene oxide is 2D shaped material covering BCM. However, release behavior of film model drug was shown burst release. Thus, as a solution to control release rate of the model drug, decided altering external structure by fabricating cover layer up on the film with two kinds of composition, Chitosan/GO and GO/GO via spin coating and inner structure by EDC/NHS cross-linking. We observed a slow release profile, from 24h to almost 70h in the film modified with an external layer. In contrast, the crosslinked film showed different release profile that was dependent on the pH of the BCMs in the film. Our results suggest methodologies to control the drug release rate and amount of release of multilayer films bearing model drugs while minimizing and simplifying process. |
