Alignment of Oligofluorenes on PEDOT/PSS Conducting Polymer |

Strong alignment of the hepta-oligofluorene with 2-ethylhexyl side branches was achieved upon annealing in the liquid crystalline state on the rubbed surface of PEDOT/PSS conducting polymer. We employed near edge x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS) to investigate the degree of molecular orientation at the top surfaces of the oligofluorene and the PEDOT/PSS layers. Our results show a slight segmental orientation on the rubbed PEDOT/PSS surface but a very high molecular orientation on the oligofluorene surface. The mechanism responsible for this surprising alignment behavior will be discussed. |
