CO2 sorption properties of Amine-based sorbent using silica with various pore sizes |

We investigated the effects of pore size on CO2 sorption properties of Amine based sorbents. We synthesized porous silica with various pore sizes by a template method, and prepared wet-impregnated amine-based sorbents with porous silica. CO2 sorption was carried out at 50 oC in the presence of 1 vol% CO2 and regeneration was carried out at 110 oC under N2. The CO2 capture capacity of amine-based sorbent which has the largest pore, shows high CO2 capture capacity of about 70 mg CO2/ g sorbent. In particular the breakthrough time of the sorbent without the template was 0 min, while sorbent which has the largest pore was 40 min, this indicating sorption rate was fast. These results were due to the fact that pore size of support plays an important role in improving CO2 capture capacity and sorption rate. From these results, we conclude that the Amine-based sorbent using silica with controlled pore size can be improved CO2 sorption properties. |
