A Study on Proliferation and Phenotype of Corneal Endothelial Cells on SIS Sheet |

Corneal transplantation is a common transplant procedure performed to improve visual acuity by replacing the opaque. Porcine SIS derived from the submucosal layer of porcine intestine, both generate a minimal inflammatory response following implantation and have been approved for many types of biomedical applications. CEC cells were seeded on SIS sheet. We confirmed morphology of cellular adhesion by scanning electron microscopy. Cell proliferation activity was measured by MTT assay. RT-PCR was conducted to confirm mRNA expression of CEC marker. In the result of MTT assay, cell viability on SIS sheet was higher than plastic bottom. The SIS sheet can act based on this experiment to be very useful to the tissue regeneration. This research was supported by WCU (R31-20029) and SCRC (SC4110) |
