Preparation and Characterization of Poly(glycidyl methacrylate) / Multi-walled Carbon Nanotube Composites |

Monodisperse poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) microspheres coated with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were prepared. Prior to the synthesis, the MWNT was treated with a strong acid. PGMA microspheres crosslinked with divinylbenzene were synthesized by in-situ dispersion polymerization. Then, the microspheres coated with MWNT along with hexamethylenediamine were prepared by ultrasonication. The morphology of microspheres of GMA-graft-MWNT was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the chemical bonding was confirmed by FT-IR. Electrical conductivity of the PGMA/MWNT microspheres was found to be enhanced due to grafted MWNT. |
