Preparation of Porous Pigments using a Pickering Emulsion as Template |

The type of emulsions stabilized by solid particles was dependent on wettability of the particles for water and oil. The optimal conditions of emulsions stabilized by solid particles were determined with ratio of water and oil phase, polarity of oils, amount of stabilizers and amount of solid particles.In this study, we tried to prepare porous pigments using a Pickering emulsion as template. O/W and W/O emulsions were prepared by using methyl methacrylate crosspolymer/silica and TiO2/methicone as pigments respectively.Porous pigments was synthesized from sodium silicate solution as inorganic material by sol-gel process. The characteristics and shape of porous pigments were measured by SEM and surface area and porous volume analysis. |
