제목 | The perfect metamaterial absorber for colour generation |
초록 | Metamaterial absorbers have great potential in applications for an image application such as reflective displays, hologram displays and so on due to their tunable absorption spectra with metamaterial structures and material types. However, a conventional metamaterial absorbers, typically made of metals such as silver, gold or aluminum thin films have a narrow bandwidth and a high absorption only in partial wavelength, so it have difficulty for generation of distinct colours. With the point towards a various colour generation with a high colour saturation, a high absorption property in a broadband is necessary. In this work, we realized a vivid colour utilizing the coupled nanocrystals (NCs) based perfect metamaterial absorber. The chemically coupled NCs (metals, semiconductors and insulators) covalently linked via short ligand are newly designed materials for engineering the optical permittivity and permeability to minimize reflectivity in a perfect metamaterial absorber. The coupled Ag NCs and the Ag based hybrid NCs were developed in this study, and the NC based metamaterial structure were fabricated by nanoimprinting lithography and lift-off method. The perfect absorbers containing with the nanodisk array or nanohole array were successfully fabricated using the coupled NCs. Finally, the fabricated metamaterial perfect absorber using NC showed the high absorption above 98% in two broad wavelength. As the materials are changed and metamaterial structures are controlled in perfect absorbers, the absorption property could be tuned, and the specific vivid colours were generated. |
