Carbon nanotubes has a strong attention because of their unique mechanical and electronical properties. But the processibility of CNTs is nearly intractable. To Increase the procssibility, we have synthesized a PEO based macroinitiator was used to first polymerized 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and then (1-pyrene)buthyl 2-methyl-2propanate (PyBMP) in a one step synthesis via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The resulting PEO-HEMA-PyBMP triblock copolymer is prepared for the nondestructive, noncovalent sidewall functionalization of carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The triblock copolymer improves the solubility of carbon nanotubes in a variety of solvents. The modified MWNTs have been characterized by NMR, Raman spectroscopy, thermo-gravimetric analysis, transmission electron microscopy, Photo luminescence, and Near IR. |
