Determination of water content in organic solvents is an important technology in various scientific and industrial fields. In this study, a water-soluble fluorescent 1,8-naphthalimde derivative attached with a guanidine moiety was synthesized and its sensor activity for the quantitative determination of water content in various water-miscible organic solvents was investigated. This dye displayed the fluorescence “on-off” detection for water in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, dimethylsulfoxide, acetonitrile, tetrahydrofuran, 1,4-dioxane over a wider operating sensing range. |
