Synthesis of Thiophene Based Donor-Acceptor All-conjugated Block Copolymer |

Poly(3-alkylthiophene) (P3AT) has been studied widely and intensively due to its excellent electron conductivity and good solubility for various organic solvents. Altough perfluoroalkyl compounds have low surface and low gas permeable properties, they can be used as an acceptor material because fluorine group has strongest electron withdrawing property. Here, we synthesized poly(3-hexylthiophene)-block-poly(3-perfluorooctylthiophene) copolymer (P3HT-b-P3FOT) for polythiophene-based donar-acceptor materials. For this purpose, 3FOT monomer was synthesized by Cu catalyst reaction from 3-bromono thiophene and perfluorooctyl iodide and followed by the polymerization by GRIM. It was observed by CV measurement that the energy level of P3FOT was shifted to lower regime compared with P3HT. P3HT-b-P3FOT was polymerized by GRIM with sequential injection of 3FOT and 3HT monomer |
