Change of Miscibility Window of PC and PMMA by Adding Multiwall Carbon Nanotubes |

The alloys of polycarbonate (PC) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) are the typical model system in which a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior appears. We employed Flory-Huggins theory to investigate the change of miscibility window by adding small amount of carbon nanotubes into the alloy. We calculate binodal and spinodal phase separation curve by F-H theory. The cloud points are consistent with the spinodal phase separation curve rather than the binodal curve. We demonstrated the phase behavior of PC-PMMA blends are changed by adding a small amount of multiwall carbon nanotube. The change of F-H interaction parameter between PC and PMMA by adding MWCNT was evaluated. |
