The Carbon Black(CB) is not readily soluble in aqueous conditions. To improving the solubility of CB, oxidation of CB give carboxy(COOH) groups on the surface of the CB which provides a self-dispersing pigment in aqueous compositions. The CB is treat with oxidizing solution, surface oxides with acidic, for example, carboxylic, functional groups are formed. These groups render the CB polar in character, and the CB particles become easier to disperse in aqueous media. In our research, the modified CB is obtained by carrying out oxidation treatment by nitric acid oxidation and we have investigated the CB particle structure and chemical composition surface area properties of CB pigments. In general, CB is a versatile material that can be used as a catalyst, adsorbent, black pigment, conductive material, and reinforcing filler. |
