The synthesis of size tunable and high yield PbSe QDs in hot solution chemical process |

Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) have been recently attracted attention due to their size dependent properties which is totally different in bulk. In case of PbSe QDs, it has been paid little attention due to the difficulty of synthesizing well controlled size and distribution. However, the large exciton Bohr radius (aB = 46 nm, eight times larger than CdSe) with a narrow direct bandgap (0.28eV at 300K), closed-packed arrangement by self-assembly with a high density, near-unity quantum yield and multiexcitation generation makes it considerable attentions and apply in versatility of applications such as opto-electronics, optical switches, non-linear applications, photonics and telecommunications. In this work, colloidal solutions containing crystalline PbSe nanoparticles (approx. 900nm to 1650 nm tunable absorption peak) have been synthesized using tributylphosphine (TBP) as a co-capping agent with oleate and got the considerably increased particle yield of PbSe QDs. Nothing much works have been done in synthesis of small sized PbSe QDs (about 3 nm in size) and increase of particle yield in this small size QDs. Therefore, this works will be the breakthrough for the future applications. The physical properties were measured by TEM, NIR absorption and XRD. |
