Currently, many researches are being continuously conducted in fuel cell (PEMFC). In order to replace fossil fuel, PEMFC (polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell) has been many considered as new energy sources. Perfluorocarbon polymer electrolyte membranes are widely used in PEMFC system, but the water supply system in PEMFC to enhance the fuel cell performance leads to increase in the weight of the total system and decrease in the efficiency of cell. To solve these problems, the semi-IPN (semi-interpenetrating polymer network) system and the sulfonated mesoporous benzene-silica materials were blended to prepare a composite membrane. The sulfonated mesoporous benzene-silica materials having approximately 2nm pores give the capillary effect on water holding capacity. In this experiment, the properties of composite membrane such as membrane dehydration, ion cluster size, proton conductivity, water uptake, and etc. were measured for PEMFC at low humidity |
