Study on thermal and morphological properties of P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blends |

A biodegradable poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) (P(HB-co-HHx), which is a new member of the polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) family, has been studied extensively. We have recently investigated thermal behavior of spin-coated films of P(HB-co-HHx) in the presence of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG). In this study, focal plane array (FPA) imaging system combined with FT-IR spectrometer was used to better understand the chemical and physical properties of P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blends during increasing temperature. 2D correlation and chemometrics analyses are also applied to the temperature-dependent FT-IR spectra of P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blends. The details of optical images and 2D correlation spectra of P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blends will be discussed.
