A green synthetic method that converts biomass into fuels and valuable chemicals has been required to be developed due to the depletion of fossil fuel sources and environmental reasons. Most bio-derived compounds are rich in oxygen, therefore, the removal of the oxygen contents is a prerequisite to replace petroleum-derived materials mainly consisted of hydrocarbon. In this perspectives, we have successfully adopted rhenium (methyltrioxorhenium, MTO)-catalyzed deoxydehydration(DODH) reaction from galactose for adipic acid synthesis. DODH reaction was efficient to remove oxygen-contents, but the use of rare and expensive rhenium catalyst is the main drawback for industrialization. Therefore, we newly introduced an ionic liquid as a homogeneous support for recycling rhenium catalyst, and the rhenium catalyst was successfully reused in several times. |
