We present a new synthesis strategy designed to improve the integration of thermo- and electro-chromic materials into a single device to overcome the limitations associated with manual combination of two different devices. To this end a new ionogel consisting of MBV[TFSI], ferrocene, and poly[VNIm][TFSI] was synthesized and utilized to construct a single layer (all-in-one) device which offer useful response by transitioning from opaque to transparent under aqueous and temperature change. Furthermore, the ionogel-based device exhibits remarkable electrochromic performances through a reversible color change from colorless to purple at 1.8 V and 25 o C (below UCST). And at 52 o C (above UCST) the purple color changes to blue due to the synergetic effect of its electrochromic reaction and thermochromic behavior. Additionally, the device maintained its switching stability for >2000 cycles. |
