제목 Modified graphite felt with polyaniline (PANI/GF) improve start-up time and acetate production from CO2 in microbial electrosynthesis cell
초록 Microbial electro-synthesis (MES) for CO2 valorization has recently been spotlighted as an innovative technology for the production of high-value chemicals. Electron uptake of microorganisms from the cathode plays a key role in the acetate production from CO2 of MES. Here, we developed novel graphite felt (GF) electrodeposited using polyaniline (PANI). The high biocompatibility and conductivity of PANI promote biofilm formation by increasing the interfacial interaction between the cathode and electroactive bacteria. The electrochemical properties of PANI/GF were analyzed through cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The PANI/GF produced higher acetate production (258 g/m2/day) than the unmodified GF (162 g/m2/day). These results indicated that PANI/GF electrodes increase the performance of MES by enhancing the microbes–electrode interaction and extracellular electron transfer. This suggested PANI/GF electrodes promoted the formation and enrichment of biofilms. These results demonstrate that PANI/GF is a promising cathode material for MES.
