PCMs have been encapsulated within polymeric shell to prevent leakage of liquid phase and various preparation methods of encapsulated PCM have been developed. However, most of developed techniques used micrometer-sized polymeric shells that do not have any function except containing PCMs with very low thermal conductivity. In this study, to overcome the limitations of current techniques, we prepared nano-sized PCM capsule. Two different approaches were used to endow functionality to the shell materials; one is by incorporating inorganic materials such as silver, and the other is by using conductive polymer such as polypyrrole. Silver-immobilized PCM nanocapsules were prepared by via poly(4-styrenesulfonic acidcomaleic acid) sodium salt [PSSMA] by interfacial polycondensation reaction between the ethylene diamine (EDA) and tolylene diisocyanate (TDI), and PCM-PPy core-shell nanoparticles were obtained by miniemulsion polymerization. |
